Institutional site for the SVA Law firm. Built in React + Next.js, focused on performance, accessibility, and a visual language up to a serious firm.
What I built
- Static-first site with Next App Router and ISR for partner bios and practice areas.
- Editorial type system tuned for legal copy: rules, sidenotes, signature blocks.
- Accessibility pass to AA contrast, full keyboard nav, and reduced-motion fallbacks.
- Image pipeline through next/image for partner headshots and case studies.
What I learned
- Law-firm sites are bought, not designed. The buyer is the senior partner, not the user.
- Editorial restraint reads as authority. Adding less is usually adding more value.
- The hardest UX problem in a firm site is the practice-area page, because each lawyer wants their thing first.
